Topic: Future Proofing Your Church’s Communications
Hindsight is 20/20, but would we be better off if we knew everything in advance? Maybe not. In this session, we will look at how God allows difficulties and provides opportunities that require us to just be obedient and trust his faithfulness.

Jake Lapp

Bio: Jake Lapp serves ECFA as Vice President of Member Accountability, where he works mainly with current ECFA members in maintaining compliance with ECFA Standards. Jake enjoys getting to work with members through the annual renewal process, the Standards Check-in program, formal compliance reviews, and answering questions regarding compliance with ECFA Standards and best practices. Jake joined the ECFA team after working in public accounting and denominational leadership. Jake values the opportunity to work closely with ministries and churches of all sizes as they seek to enhance trust in their organization.

Topic: Leader Health and the Impact on Trust
Trust takes a long time to build but can be destroyed overnight. As ECFA looks to adopt a new Leadership Standard, this session will cover the importance of caring for the health of your top leader and the impact that a healthy leader can have on an organization.

Katie James

Bio: Katie James has worked in marketing and communications for more than 15 years across businesses and non-profits alike. As part of her tenure as Director of Communications Memorial Park Church (Allison Park, PA), she established the communications contingent of the Western Pennsylvania chapter of The Church Network, connecting church communications professionals around the Greater Pittsburgh area. Now, she spearheads Media and Marketing as a Senior Manager at The Children’s Institute of Pittsburgh, a non-profit that serves nearly 9,000 kids and families each year through an array of therapies, in-home and family support services, and community programs. She still consults and collaborates within the church communications space through her personal and professional connections.

Topic: Branding is not a bad word
We’re all offering the same thing: a relationship with Jesus. Yet what differentiates you from every other church in your neighborhood? What are you really good at? Maybe your church excels at prayer walks; maybe it’s children’s programming; maybe it’s music, or your pastor, or maybe you don’t know.

We can’t all be good at everything. Finding your brand and using it well will not only help you tell your church’s story, but it can also help you streamline your ministries and focus in on what makes your church unique.

What we’ll cover: what is a brand, how to build one, and next steps to take that brand into every ministry of your church.
